beginner’s guide to witchcraft !
start ! – you don’t have to know everything there is to know about witchcraft in order to start. as a beginner, the internet is your best friend. you can learn about everything from divination to tarot reading and even search up some simple smells. google is essentially your grimoire. it’s a learn as you go process.
don’t stress ! – don’t feel bad for not practicing every single day & definitely don’t be discouraged if a few of your spells don’t work out. stress and worry can clog your mind and in turn affect your craft. a lot of us don’t have time to do lengthy spells every single day and thats okay! simple things like drawing a little sigil in your morning coffee with cream, enchanting your makeup or pens and even pulling a tarot card everyday can help you incorporate a lil bit of magick into your life.
believe ! – you have to believe in yourself. apply the law of attraction to your daily life and especially during your spell casting. if you truly believe your spells and charms are working, they will! have faith.
individuality ! – there are no rules or guidelines to being a witch- to each its own. your method of casting a protection spell could be drastically different from the way i do it and there’s nothing wrong with that! some prefer crystal magic, others are heavily reliant on potions. remember- theres no wrong way to practice. as a beginner you can try out a bunch of different methods and then stick to what works best for you. sometimes you’ll be drawn towards one particular thing- don’t ignore your gut feeling! look into it and see if there’s anything of interest.
write ! – write down everything. start your own grimoire or book of shadows. write about the properties of certain crystals, phases of the moon and interpretations of tarot cards. i recommend keeping a track of your spell casting. write down the spell, materials and casting in detail and then keep updates to see if your spellwork has paid off. having your own witchcraft diary of sorts can be extremely useful- you’ve essentially got your own encyclopaedia. it’s also great for when you want to look back and see how far you’ve come as a witch.
materials ! – you don’t need to invest in expensive crystals and herbs while you’re starting out. clear quartz is a universal crystal and can be used in any spell- it’s enough for the beginner witch. you could buy seeds from a local gardening shop and start your very own garden for cheap. ransack your local grocery store or even your own kitchen for basic herbs. make do with what you have on hand. recycle old mason jars, glass utensils, containers, altoid tins for spells in a jar and travel friendly altars.
study ! – read up on books about witchcraft, follow witch blogs and maybe even talk to a practicing witch. witchcraft is such a vast and expansive practice; you can never have too much information. read about celestial magic and hedge witches and everything in between. learning about the different types of witchcraft and methods will help you decide what’s best for you. you can strictly stick to one method of practicing or apply a little bit of everything. if you’re into deity worship, read up on greek, egyptian, roman, hindu and norse mythology to find a deity/deities for your altar.
celebrate ! – witchcraft is all about celebrating life, nature, the universe and all the energy within. celebrate the sabbats and cast special spells on your birthday, anniversary or any other event. it’ll help you feel closer to your craft, especially if you’re in the broom closet.
last but not least, don’t overthink. trust your instincts and intuition and do what feels right to you. you’ll grow and become better at your craft as time goes by. practice, believe and always know that the magic comes from within.
an insight to my daydreams for my future…cooling pies on the window and a whistling kettle ready to make some tea

Had a smoothie bowl for a snack this morning! I blended up spinach, avocado, pineapple, mango and banana (this sounds strange but the avocado makes it so creamy mmm) and topped it with blueberries, kiwi, coconut, and chia seeds soaked in almond milk, really good stuff! 💚💚💚
