Today I’d like to share one of my personal favourites: Rose Chai. It’s a spicy-sweet treat with just a dash of romance and enough self-love to get you through those dreary mornings.
Ingredients
Yield: 1 big cup of tea
½ tbsp of black tea leaves, or 1 tea bag
½ cup water
¾ cup milk of choice
1 cinnamon stick
½ tsp cardamom powder
¼ inch piece of fresh ginger, sliced
1 tbsp dried rose petals
2 cloves
½ tbsp fennel seeds
Sweetener of choice, to taste
Instructions
Crush the cinnamon stick, cloves, fennel seeds and ginger with a mortar and pestle and set aside. Alternatively, if you don’t have one, you can use a food processor.
Pour the water and crushed spices into a pan on medium heat. Add the rose petals and bring it to a boil.
Add the rest of the ingredients and cook for 3-4 minutes.
Turn down the heat to low and cook for 1 more minute.
Take off heat and strain the tea into cups and serve immediately.

Benefits of Rose Tea
Contains: copious amounts of vitamin C, polyphenols*, antioxidants and ellagic acid.
Benefits: Rose tea boosts the immune system and promotes collagen production to help stave off signs of aging. Additionally, due to the anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties of roses, rose tea is very effective in treating skin conditions such as acne.
Alleviates: menstrual pain [x], sore throats, digestive issues, stress, anxiety, constipation and the symptoms associated with UTIs (urinary tract infections).
*Polyphenols are natural antioxidants that help the body repair cellular damage and protect the body against illnesses such as heart disease, bone weakness and cancer.
